Now is Jacaranda Flowers Blooming Season in Brisbane. As I mentioned before, you can go to UQ or New Farm Park, even go to Grafton, there is a Jacaranda Festival. However, in Brisbane, that is easy, if you drive around your local area, you can find some streets will have a lot of Jacaranda tree. This weekend, we went to a local side street in Sunnybank Hills. I found the whole street has Jacaranda planted in both sides. That looks great. That is a Purple Rain! I love it!
I went to Taiwan Festival 2018 on the Saturday before last week. We arrived there at around 4 pm. There was not too quiet, but not very crowded. Maybe, on that Friday, their online payment was not working very well. As a result, there was a long queue. I guess some people were losing interest to go there.
Because of the technical difficulties of the payment system, They started to accept any cash. Thus, we have no troubles for payments. They had a walk around their street market. We found around 20 stalls to sell Taiwanese food such as and Taiwanese drinks.
For us, firstly, we had a deep fried chicken fillet, that was very crispy!
And then we tried Taiwanese egg waffles. They look like a real egg. That is fancy. It tastes really not bad, it tasted like waffles. I think that is ok. However, I have spent half an hour in the queue, that is a bit much. Moreover, four little waffles cost $9, that was a bit expensive for me too. Anyway, I went there for fun, spending a bit more is ok.
Besides, there was a distributor of Taiwanese bottled drinks in there for promotion. Their promotion price was great, a bottle and pack of Taiwanese drink is only for $1. I like it.
Besides food and drinks, there are also Taiwanese cultural performances. I saw a group of people performing fan dances on the stage. It seems that they have spent a lot of time rehearsing, they were well prepared
At around 9 pm, we went out to Sunnybank Hills to watch the fireworks display at the Taiwan Festival. It is also about ten minutes. It’s free, I certainly like it.
Fortunately, we went on Saturday, we did not encounter the problem of the payment system, and we lived nearby, so it was a bit of fun for. But some friends went there on Friday, because of the payment system issues, they had to spend the time to queue up to buy the food, they had some unpleasant experience. I hope that the organizer can learn from the experience, next times, they can handle it better and faster next time.
Yesterday, when I was running nearby, I found that the purple trees (Jacaranda) were blooming. It’s the time of nearly November, this is the season of the purple tree blossoming. This tree is ubiquitous in Brisbane, so now I see a few purple trees on the roadside, it seems that there is “a little purple ocean” on the roadside.
If you want to see more, I went to the Busway bus at the University of Queensland’s St Lucia in previous years , there are a number of Jacaranda planted along the footpath, I remember they are quite beautiful. If you are not satisfied, you can go to Grafton to attend the Jacaranda festival, which will be held from this Saturday to November 4. Someone told me there is a street where Jacaranda planted at both sides. Unfortunately, it is almost three hours drive from Brisbane, too far away. Maybe, we might go to Goodna, this Saturday and Sunday, there is also the Jacaranda festival, just a lot of small, Evan Marginson Park has several big jacarandas, but there is much closer to our home!
A few days ago, I opened my gallery in my photo. I found the photo I took during the 4th anniversary of 8 street. I think that is worth to blog about it. After our church service, we went to the garden city for lunch. That was great. I ordered ramen from Ikkairo ramen. Although that is a discounted $8 lunch, that was still a full-size ramen same as usual and with a small coke too. Also, the ramen was still tasted good. Lastly, there were more people than usual, but that is not too crowded, and I did not need to queue a long time for ordering. That was a happy lunch for $8
Today, IKEA started their Clearance sale until this Sunday(21/10). There are 400 products on sale and at least 40%off.
Thus, tonight, we went there. That was not very fun. I spent half an hour on the queue for ordering our dinner. Fortunately, after this hard work for queuing. We found a set of baby bed sheets for $10. It looks “high end” and just for $10.
If they are considering to move to a new home, I think we can get more bargain deals than us.
I saw $399 for a three-seat soda, $99 bookshelf and $119 for a desk. They sound a good deal too. I have not much time to shop tonight, so I think I should miss a lot, there should be more good deals rather than just I mentioned above.
I think that is worth to go to their store and check out any good stuff for you if you consider moving to a new home and renovation. Well, If you are just looking for buying some new dining tableware or some towels, just some homeware, there may be not many choices for you.
A few days ago, I was in Sunnybank Hills Shopping Center. I saw there was a poster about Taiwan Festival. I have been to this Festival for a few times, I am keen to attend this year too! This year, this festival will take place at the rooftop car park at Sunnybank Hills Shopping Center where is a good location. There are a lot of car parks and closed to us too! I love to be there his year. According to the poster, there will be a street market where they can have some Taiwanese food. Moreover, there will be some Taiwanese culture performance too. At both nights of the festival, there will be fireworks too! The most important part is a free entry!

Yesterday, we went to Brisbane City for watching RiverFire 2018 around 5:30pm. Firstly, I booked a parking spot at City. Unfortunately, even I booked the parking spot, after I entered the car park, there were all full. Finally, I found a parking spot at QUT, and it is not too costly. For the weekend parking is $10 per day. Next year, I have to plan better, and I need to make sure we really really can get a parking spot. Then We walked to bicentennial bikeway just next to the river. That is not closed to the river, and I saw there was already a crowd to wait for watching the RiverFire 2018.
At 7:04pm, EA-18 has a flyover the river, then the fireworks started. There was magnificent. There were a lot of fireworks, that is 15 minutes long non-stop fireworks. Moreover, some fireworks got the sound effect, has “weeee” “weee” sound! That was interesting. Also, this year, it has a new feature. I saw there were two jet ski driving across the river and it fired some fireworks too! The fireworks are not just on the sky, over the water too!
Lastly, the bicentennial bikeway is a vantage point to watch the fireworks. However, there is too close to the platform at the middle river where is all fireworks fired from. Thus, that is very very noisy. I highly recommend not staying in there if you have kids or even with a baby. That is too noisy for them.
In conclusion, the Fireworks is excellent, that is my fault. I did not arrange the parking well and end up we went to the place not suitable for us who was with a toddler. As a result, this times is not an enjoyable experience for us this year.
Last night, I went to city for watching CelebrateBrisbane River of Light, which is a light show in Southbank. At 9.30pm, the show started. The water fountain spray water like dancing, then there are a number of the spotlights flashing at the same time too. According to their official website, there is some rainbow light too. Maybe, I watched that in the city, that is too far away, I did not any laser at all.
Please be aware there are two nights of the show left! Please do not miss that!
This Saturday, Brisbane Festival 2018 will be officially ended. That is the time for the most significant event of this festival, Brisbane Riverfire, as the course event. It will start this Saturday at 7:05 pm. At the time, there will be a ton of colorful fireworks at the River to light up Brisbane.
This event is not about Fire Works; There will be aerial displays from defense force at Southbank, not many other opportunities you can see the fighter jets from RAAF
According to the official website of Brisbane Festival, the timetable listed as the below:
2:45 pm – C 17A Globemaster flypast
4:10 pm – Roulettes Aerobatic Display
5:30 pm – EA-18G Growler flypast
7:04 pm – EA-18G Growler flypast
7:05 pm – Fireworks display commences
EA-18G is the latest RAAF fighter jet. Moreover, besides of US, Australia is the only one country equipped this kind of jet. So, watching those jets is a must-do activity for Brisbane Festival! Also, tomorrow will be pre-event practices of those jets too, please be aware that, if you are a fan of flighter jet.
I believe this event is worth to go! Thus Many people will go to Southbank for this. Then, the best way to there is using public transport. Translink will have extra services for this event! There will be special shuffle bus for this event. They will run every 8 minutes between 4 pm to 7 pm from:
shuttle 999S runs all busway stations from Eight Mile Plains to South Bank
Shuttle 4 runs between all stops via Old Cleveland Rd and busway, then express from Gabba to Ann Street
Shuttle 6 runs between all stops and busway stations from Chermside to Woolloongabba
In the past, we like la casamia a lot. I got a lot of friends like their cake. My friends told their chief was in a five-star hotel in Hong Kong, so their cakes are tasting similar to those ones from those high end hotels. Unfortunately, they closed a few years ago. But I found out they are re-opened again in our Brisbane Southside. They located near Runcorn Train Station, that is still very close to us, but for some reasons, they changed their brand to Brisbane Dessert and Cake.
Two weeks ago, we went to their shop for afternoon tea. Their store is not very big, but very comfortable. Also, their cakes were great. I had a slice of Cheese Cake and Chocolate Vanilla Brulee. First of all, they looked very great, like an art piece. That sounds high end. The most important, they tasted awesome. The cheesecake is very cheesy. And I loved the Chocolate Vanilla Brulee a lot! I like that kind of sweet!
Besides of cakes, I bumped into some sisters from our Church. They recommended their coffee too. However, I already had a cup of coffee beforehand, I have not a chance to try. I must try it next times.
That is a must go cake shop!
