Tasty EKKA

EKKA is not just about animals.  There are a lot of tasty food!

Firstly, I must talk about strawberry ice cream which is the most famous food in EKKA. Some of my friends said you can only have it in EKKA.

That is a kind of very special ice cream. At the most top level, there is a whole strawberry. Next strawberry ice cream is under placed under that.  Then there are some sliced  strawberry inside the cup. Finally, at lowest level,  vanilla ice cream is placed at the base. It tasted different in each level. That is very very tasty.

Please remember this hut, You can buy this kind of icecream for $5 each and there is always people lining up.

Secondly, I wish to recommend Cheese Toastie at the Woolworths Fresh Food Pavilion. It is only $ 2 each. Tasty toast with cream cheese. I love it. I saw a few people bought that too!

EKKA 2014

EKKA 2014EKKA is a major event in Brisbane. Actually, this is an annual agricultural show in Brisbane and has more 100 years history. The first EKKA held in 1876.

Of course, I did not miss that. I went there yesterday. I had a fun day in there. I saw there were a lot of people, I guess they were enjoying it too!

Firstly, I enjoyed the horse show a  lot. They performed some “house dance”.House Show @EKKA

We went to the stables to have a closer look  to horses.

Not Only horses, there are some other animals.

P1120214

You can feed some sheep too!

Secondly, the most attractive feature is the showbags which contains commercial merchandise. These merchandise will have much higher value than the price tag of a showbag. I bought a food magazine showbag. That was only $10.

Showbag

It has a magazine, salad sauce, coffee, tea bags, curry and pasta. That was very value for money.

There was not just about shopping. At 5pm, there will be a night show, such as horse racing, singer performance and super cars show. At 7.35pm there will be a firework performance.P1120262

Lastly,  there are some rides too! But they are not free. Each ride costs about $8-12.

Rides @EKKA

If you don’t like that many excitements, you can have some games in the stalls. Maybe, you can win some dolls from there.

However, normally, they costs $5.

Wow, I had a lot of fun in there. Even if you need to pay $29 for adult ,$22 for Concession and $18 for child,(If you are RACQ memeber, you can get 15%), that is still value for money!

$5.99 Bento Lunch Box @ Half Time Tea Bar

Last Monday, I have tried a special lunch box at  Half Time Tea Bar in Market Square. That is very value for money! It only costs $5.99. Although its size is not very big, it is big enough as a lunch box.  It has  braised pork, half of  a sausage, a few slices of tofu, half of  an egg, vegetables, beans and rice. Well we can have meat, vegetables, and a variety of side dishes. That is not bad for $5.99.

The most important things is its taste. It is not bad at all. I only paid $5.99.  I think its quality can be considerable as a “good” for $5.99.

If you are lazy to make your own lunch and do not want to spend too much on that, I think this bento box is a good option for you!

Last night, we went to that events. That was full of people and most of stalls had a few people lining in front of them. Moreover, there were a lot of various types Asian food,  such as Japanese Ramen, Dim Sum and Malaysia Roti. It looks like a Asian hawker market.

I and my wife tried a stall calls Okonomi, we ordered a Japanese Style Pizza. There were a long queue in there. We spent half hour for waiting.

No worries, the chief  used “stir fry” style for making Japanese Style Pizza is a kind of performance.

I booked a ticket from Brisbane to Hong Kong by Cathay Pacific. I will fly around October. That is a huge discount price, around late $800, close to $900. Such a good price. Well, if you fly between 10 January 2015 to 12 June 2015, the price will be around $786, more attractive!

Kaisen Don@KU-O

This Saturday, I and wife went to KU-O for lunch. I found there are some special lunch sets, they are around $12 included a tea and salad.
We love Sashimi a lot! Thus, we ordered Kaisen Don which is a kind of sushi rice with Sashimi on top, but we spent a bit more, Kaisen Don Lunch Special is $15.90, well, that is still more value for money than just ordering Kaisen Don($14.90).
Kaisen Don@KU-O
Although that was a lunch special, that was a full-size Kaisen. It had a few types of Sashimi, such as Tuna, Salmon and Prawn. That was tasty, both of us loved it a lot!!!

If you are looking for a good japanese curry restaurant in Brisbane City, I got two good suggestions for you.

The first suggestion is  Hanaichi.  About ten years, when I was still in university, I have been already “addicted” with their curry, I had my lunch in there about three times per week. Their curry is tasty and value for money. $8.90 is for a big bowl of curry rice. That is huge!

Snorkeling@Great Barrier Reef

We are so luck to live in Queensland, we are closed to Great Barrier Reef which is one of  seven natural wonders of the world, we just need to take a  two hours flight to there or  even we can driving to Cairns and take a cruise to there !

A few years ago, I went to cairns and joined a tour to Great Barrier Reef. I took a high speed wavepiercer for about an hour to outer barrier. And then I did snorkeling in there! I saw a beautiful underwater ocean life! I even saw a large Sea turtle was swimming just under our tour group. I think Snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef should be one of  “must do” activities in your lifetime!

During these recent years, many Korean restaurants opened in sunnybank area. I tried many of them.

Maru is one of my list. This restaurant is located in the heart of sunnybank, just next market square. I tried their Bibimbap (Hot Stone Rice). That is not bad, I felt full, after I had this.

Besides that, I love their dumplings a lot!

After we scanned through the menu, we finally ordered a Bento special for $21.  That was a big lunch!

Firstly, we had a streamed egg. Yummy, inside the egg, it had a mushroom and prawn!
