Brisbane City - ChristmasI went to City for Christmas Shopping tonight. I found there is full of people, this Sunday is Christmas.  That is still a few days away. I believe that is because there is night shopping every night until 23/12.  Most of shops will opens up to 9pm. On 23/12, they will open to Mid-night. Everyone needs to do Christmas Shopping!

Dining out in Brisbane

Dinner@Brisbane

Dinner@Brisbane

In Hong Kong, dining out is a part of our daily routine, but that is not apply in Brisbane! Dining out is very expensive.  Even a take-away dinner can cost you $8! If you want to dinner at a restaurant, that is around $20.  Thus, at the most of time, we will cook at home. That will only cost you around $3 per meal! You can save a lot of money to eat at home.

Christmas Door @ Entrance
From today to 23rd December 2011, at 7pm every night,  there will be a  Christmas Parade will be held in Queen Street.  In the Parade, there will be a lot of performers and animals too!  It should be a great event.

Surfers Paradise

Surfers Paradise Beach

Gold Coast is a famous tourist attraction in Queensland. There is 57 KM  long coastline and a lot of beaches along there.  I believe the most famous one is Surfers Paradise. That is a beautiful beach. The water is very clear.  But there is some strong water waves, that is good to surf, not very good to swim. You can enjoy a good time to surf in there. That is “Surfers’ Paradise”.

Although you cannot surf, there is a super “long” beach. I believe that is unique in this world! That is a “must-see” point.

The Entrance to Surfers Paradise beach.

When you travel there, you must take a photo at the entrance of Surfers Paradise Beach and under the name of “Surfers Paradise”.  I brought a lot of friends to take a photo in there.

Surfers Paradise Esplanade

Besides of the beach, there is an Esplanade. I like to walk in there. I can enjoy the ocean wind, beautiful beach and a blue sky.

There is an hour driving distance from Brisbane, that is not too far from Brisbane. Thus, I go to there at least three times per year!

Point Danger @ Evening

(Continue: Point Danger)

Last week, I visited Point Danger ,where is about an hour driving distance from Brisbane, again. Last times, I visited there was at noon. This times is in the evening time. The scene is completely different! That is very romantic!  Sunset and a beautiful ocean view.  A pink sky and a blue ocean. The mixture is prefect. I got another spot to view the ocean rather than Byron Bay.

Brisbane China Town

China Town

Brisbane has not many Chinese, by comparing Sydney. Thus, we have a smaller China Town.  We have an official China Town in Duncan Street, Fortitude Valley. That is only a narrow and short street. You can  see it more clearly in Google Map.

Duncan Street

There are a few Chinese restaurants and  a Chinese supermarket. There are not many things worth to visit.

Metallic China Town Moreover,  you cannot feel a lot of Chinese atmosphere in there, because the Brisbane City Council re-built China Town around 2010. Now, there is more metallic.

I suggest you go to our Chinese Suburb, Sunnybank. There are more “Chinese”. There are more choices on restaurants  too.

Anyway, if you are in City, China Town is still worth to visit. There is very close to City.

Inland beach@Southbank

Inland beach@Southbank

I don’t think Brisbane River is a good place to swim. You still can swim “near” Brisbane Swim. We have an artificial inland beach in Southbank. You can swim next to Brisbane River. Moreover, that is not a swimming pool. That is a beach with real sand!  This is very cool!

$10 Quick Cut

$10 Quick Cut
I tried the new hair salon,F10 Quick Cut, in Sunnybank Plaza this Monday. They only provide haircut.  They are similar with QB House in Hong Kong. Firstly, there is a vendor machine. You put  a $10 note into this machine, and then you get a ticket.  Then sit and wait, when there is a hair dresser available, you give the ticket to him.  The 10 minutes hair cutting journey starts.  That is very similar with QB House way. But in Hong Kong, we can use our Octopus card to pay the fee. Well, they are similar, but they are not as good as QB House. I like my cut in QB House more. This is Australia, I cannot ask for too much. F10 Quick Cut can deliver what they say, that is $10 haircut.  I think that is reasonable. That is completed around 10 minutes. Now, my hair is cut shorter. That is what I want.

BananaEarly of this year, we had Cyclone Yasi hit Northern Queensland. It destroyed a lot of banana. As a result, Australia has experienced banana shortage. I saw there was  around $15 per kg in supermarket. Recently, the price becomes more reasonable. Last week, I bought some banana for around $3 per kg. Today, the price is lower! I saw 99 cents per kg in Woolworth.
